The majority of US physician assistant (PA) programs require 1,000 hours or less of healthcare experience hours in order to apply to their program.

68 PA programs require more than 1000 hours of healthcare experience.

For applicants who have little (or no) patient care experience, there are  96 PA programs have set their healthcare experience requirement as “recommended/preferred” and eight US physician assistant programs who do not require healthcare experience hours.
