Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine Bronx, NY 14.5 months 5 Students Postgraduate Residency for Physician Assistants in Surgery Montefiore’s Physician Assistant residency is the oldest postgraduate residency program in the country. In 1971, just six years after the Physician Assistant profession was founded, Montefiore became the first hospital to include PA’s as house officers on inpatient surgical services. Those PA’s quickly became an integral part of the surgical team at Montefiore and their clinical experience was formalized into a 12 month residency in general surgery and surgical specialties. In 1978, a pre-internship didactic phase was added in order to provide a firm scientific foundation for the clinical phase of the program. Montefiore Medical Center Bronx, NY 12 months 2Students OB-GYN Physician Assistant Residency Program Montefiore Medical Center is an internationally recognized leader in modern healthcare research and education. With highly competitive residency programs in all aspects of medicine, it is affiliated with one of the most prestigious medical schools in the nation, Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM). The Montefiore Post-Graduate Residency is a 12-month, full-time postgraduate residency program offering intensive training in obstetrics and gynecology. PA residents are trained alongside the OB/GYN physician residents and are exposed to the management of OB/GYN patients in a variety of settings and circumstances. The PA-Resident will have rotations focused on Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum services, along with rotations on the GYN and GYN oncology services, including ultrasound and surgical instruction. Upon completion of this residency, the PA should be competent in performing vaginal deliveries, 1st assisting in Cesarean deliveries and gynecological surgeries, and performing office-based gynecological procedures.
