Policies that can change your plan

Prerequisite GPA
You also need a 3.0 GPA across four specified advanced courses, separate from the overall and science GPA minimums.
Course age
The four named advanced courses must be completed within 5 years. Having 8 credits within the last 12 months is preferred, not required.
Unclear whether one course can count twice
The broad 8-credit Biology requirement lists A&P I/II as examples, while separate 300-level Anatomy and Physiology courses are also required. It is not clear whether one course can count toward both.
Medical terminology
Pass a medical terminology exam by July 1, 2027, after you are accepted. No medical terminology course is required for admission.

Minimum overall GPA 3.0 and science GPA 3.0; no more than two grades below C across all college courses, and no more than two repeats. The program prefers, but does not require, that 8 credits of the four advanced courses be completed within the last 12 months. Online classes and labs are not accepted for the four named courses, except Spring 2020 through Summer 2021. One prerequisite may still be outstanding when you submit to CASPA, to be finished by Aug 1, 2027. Medical terminology is an exam after acceptance, not a prerequisite course.

When courses must be complete: For the 2027 cycle, CASPA must verify your application by Jan 15, 2027. One outstanding prerequisite may be finished by Aug 1, 2027.

HOW YOU’LL LEARN

Curriculum & clinical training

01Didactic phase

Integrated medical education

Coordinated clinical medicine and related sciences use a cadaver lab and interprofessional simulation to develop diagnostic and patient care skills.

02Clinical phase

Supervised clinical experiences

Clinical partnerships span more than 100 sites in the Buffalo area and New York State; the department may consider student placement requests.

The professional PA program lasts 33 months, including six academic semesters and one full summer. Both the graduate-entry MS and the undergraduate BS/MS routes lead to the same professional program, and the combined undergraduate route takes at least five years. The exact length of each phase is not given.
