Mission & approach
The York College Physician Assistant program seeks to recruit and educate students from diverse surrounding communities to become highly competent, compassionate, and culturally aware providers of excellent medical care to underserved urban areas. Incorporated in our mission is a priority on increasing access to medical professional education for racial and ethnic minorities, financially disadvantaged students, and first-generation college graduates. Our program is committed to providing strong support so that we may also expect high performance from our students. All students successfully completing the program are eligible to sit for the national PA board examination administered by NCCPA and will have completed a didactic and clinical curriculum emphasizing urban medical care.

- Published credit ranges
- Chemistry I/II 4–5 credits each, Biochemistry 3–5, Statistics 3–4. These are minimums; the school reviews course equivalence.
The science prerequisite GPA minimum is 3.0. A&P and Microbiology grades below B- are not accepted, and a repeat average must also be at least B- (2.7). Other science prerequisites and Statistics expire after ten years; behavioral sciences have no time limit. AP Biology or Chemistry taken within ten years may fulfill those sequences. One CLEP exam (Biology or Chemistry) can show knowledge instead of repeating an expired sequence. A USMLE Step 1 score within five years may waive repeating outdated sciences, except A&P and Microbiology. Each science prerequisite may be repeated once within its expiration period. Suggested electives, including Organic Chemistry, do not replace required sciences.
When courses must be complete: Up to three prerequisites pending at application: one science OR Statistics (not both), plus one or both behavioral courses. All pending coursework finished by July 31 before fall enrollment.
