ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY – PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT RESIDENCY

Welcome to the UCSF Fresno PA Orthopaedic Residency Program website. Affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, we offer a 13 month postgraduate program for 2 PA orthopedic surgery residents per year. Graduates who successfully complete the residency will receive a certificate of completion from UCSF. Orthopaedic Surgery PA residents will learn and work alongside physician residents during their clinical and didactic training. The program will feature a strong emphasis on clinical teaching, surgical skills and hands-on learning. The goal of our PA residency is to provide extensive orthopaedic surgery patient management skills that will help propel graduates into successful future careers in both academic and private practice settings.

UCSF Fresno recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with the opening of a center for medical education and research. This thirty million dollar facility is an indicator of the support from the University of California. This new state-of-the-art facility located on the Community Regional Medical Center campus has a library, an auditorium and multiple conference rooms with full audiovisual support, a clinical research center, and a simulation lab. CRMC campus also includes a 641 bed Level 1 Trauma Center, medical office buildings, outpatient clinics, and a brand new workout facility. Approximately 300 residents and fellows are currently obtaining postgraduate training on the UCSF Fresno campus. There are nearly 200 full time faculty members representing all specialties. The CRMC emergency department has over 110,000 patient visits per year, making it one of the busiest in the state. The sister facility, 208 bed Clovis Community Medical Center, has approximately 50,000 annual ED patient visits.
