Emory Critical Care Center NP/PA Post Graduate Residency

The Emory Critical Care Center NP/PA post graduate residency is a one-year training program that teaches residents to become highly skilled in the multidisciplinary, collaborative and evidence-based management of complex and challenging patients in the intensive care unit.  This program attracts new graduates seeking a structured educational program, who want to become experts and leaders in their field.

Critical care medicine is best delivered by an integrated team of dedicated professionals.  For three decades, physician assistants and nurse practitioners have been members of the Emory critical care team.

“Graduates of the new program are going to deliver the right care, right now, every time”, say the co-directors of the new training program, W. Robert Grabenkort, PA and Heather Meissen, ACNP.  “Well trained Affiliate Providers are the foundation of high quality critical care.”

The use of PA and NP personnel in the intensive care units is rising rapidly in the United States according to Timothy Buchman, PhD, MD, who is the founding Director of the Emory Critical Care Center.  “Academic and community hospitals across the nation are realizing that these professionals deliver great value to their hospitals, but most importantly to patients and their families.”
