Program Description and Mission

The Department of Emergency Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center is pleased to offer an Emergency Medicine Residency for the Physician Assistant (PA).  Our Residency in Emergency Medicine is one of a few Emergency Medicine PA residencies offered in the nation and the first residency for Physician Assistants at New York Presbyterian Hospital.  We are a tertiary care center, approved for Trauma, Cardiac, Burn and Stroke care and treat over 80,000 Emergency Department patients annually.  Our department includes Emergency Medicine specialty services such as Toxicology, Wilderness Medicine, Geriatric Emergency Medicine, EM Ultrasound and a Global Emergency Medicine program.  Our faculty and residents conduct clinical research, sit on several national committees, publish numerous articles and chapters, and present at national conferences.  As a Physician Assistant Resident in Emergency Medicine, you will have the opportunity to work alongside our high caliber physician residents, board certified Emergency Medicine faculty, and veteran PAs and NPs in our Emergency Department. You will also rotate on various specialty services at New York Presbyterian Hospital and will work with attending physicians, physician residents, and physician assistants on those services.

The Department of Emergency Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center is committed to providing the highest quality medical care to our patients and an excellent education to our trainees. Our Physician Assistant Emergency Medicine Residency will prepare residents to become highly competent physician assistants in Emergency Medicine by developing their skills in all aspects of emergency care.  Certification from this program will demonstrate education, training, experience and peer recognized excellence in Emergency Medicine.  Our Physician Assistant Residency graduates will be the future Physician Assistant leaders in Emergency Medicine  providing the highest level of clinical care while developing and implementing the expansion and practice of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants.
